Bio
Holly Michelsen is passionate about singing and performing. Most of all, her favorite thing is teaching and learning about the voice. Her musical versatility enables her to teach classical, musical theater, and contemporary voice out of her home in Salem, Utah. She earned her degree in Vocal Performance from Utah Valley University in May 2019. Holly has been teaching voice since 2016, and works with students of diverse backgrounds and experiences in singing.
Holly has had the opportunity to work with some amazing vocal teachers as well. She started taking voice lessons in Junior High from Cecily Bills, (M.A.) and worked with her at Utah Valley University from 2015-2017. Holly also studied with Jeanice Woodbrey during high school from 2013-2015. She’s studied opera voice with Dr. Isaac Hurtado from 2018-2019 and has performed in UVU operas from 2017-2019 as part of her bachelor's degree. After graduating with her vocal degree, she studied pop with Nancy Baumgartner and multiple genres with Jeanice Woodbrey.
When Holly is not teaching, she is performing. After participating in musicals such as "Aida", "Cinderella", and "Children of Eden" throughout high school, Holly studied and performed opera at UVU starting in 2015. Some of her favorite roles with UVU opera include Adele from “Die Fledermaus” in The Laughing Song and Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow (2018), Sally in “Die Fledermaus” (January 2019), and the Queen of the Night in Der Hölle Rache from “The Magic Flute” (April 2019). After graduating with a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance, she played Frasquita in “Carmen” with the Utah Vocal Arts Academy Summer Program (July 2019). She most recently returned to her high school musical theater roots, performing with the Payson Community Theater in "A Night on Broadway" (February 2025) and "Newsies", playing the role of Seitz (August 2025).
In addition to growing her private voice studio since 2019, she has music directed musical theatre shows for Spanish Fork High School: Les Miserables (April 2021) and Legally Blonde (February 2022), as well as Annie Get Your Gun for Payson Community Theater (August 2023).

"Holly Michelsen is amazing! When I started taking lessons from her, I already had a pretty good voice, so I was struggling to figure out what she could teach me. Back then, I thought vocal coaches were only for people who couldn't sing, and wanted to learn how. I soon found out I was wrong, however, when she was able to take the level my voice was at, and improve it so much! I am now singing professionally, which is something I never would have been able to do without her guidance. That's what I love about her. No matter what level you're at, she can still improve your voice! She doesn't just do that though. For me, she improved my vocal range, my confidence, and taught me awesome techniques I use constantly in my singing! She's a wonderful teacher and definitely worth spending time with."
